Chemical Peel

Glycolic Acid Peel is a mild facial peel made from a fruit-derived alpha hydroxyl acid. It gently removes dead, dull surface cells, allowing new healthy cells to take their place on your skin. It is a noninvasive treatment that revitalizes skin that appears dull or non-vibrant. It improves acne-prone skin. There is an overall improvement in your skin’s tone, texture, color and clarity with this procedure.

The Obagi Blue Peel® is the deepest chemical peel available at the Eye and Facial Clinic. The Blue Peel® uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA), which is applied in one to four layers during a single treatment session. TCA penetrates into the skin’s medial dermal layer to help treat: light to moderate wrinkles, pigment spots, acne scars, and pre-cancerous lesions.

The key to the Blue Peel® success is precise control of the level of penetration of the TCA. The Blue Peel® uses a unique dye-based mechanism that takes the guesswork out of the application. A maximum of four layers may be applied to the entire face, depending on the treatment goals. The complete session is a one to two hour procedure. A light burning sensation is common during the peel. However, our physicians can administer a light sedative to help alleviate any discomfort.

Total recovery time is 7 to 10 days, during which makeup and sun exposure should be completely avoided. The skin will gradually tighten and then lightly peel over several days’ time. For optimal results, the facial skin should be conditioned with the Obagi Nu-Derm® System. The Blue Peel® may be repeated for more dramatic results or for maintaining a more youthful appearance.
