Unlike traditionally available collagen, human-based collagen does not require a skin test. Collagen is part of the natural structure of the skin. Wrinkles form when this natural collagen layer thins during the course of aging. Collagen fillers such as CosmoDerm™ and CosmoPlast™ are made of highly purified human-based collagen, and they enhance the network of collagen fibers already present within your skin.
This treatment is straightforward. After determining the treatment goals, the collagen is injected directly into the targeted area and lightly molded to achieve the proper dispersion and shape. A thin fine-gauge needle is used to reduce discomfort, but the patient may also request an anesthetic block. Most procedures require only a single treatment, followed by one or more visits for touch-ups, but additional visits may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
